Join us on Saturday 2nd July (come rain or shine) for a pilgrimage walk from Rosslyn Chapel to Calton Hill *St Giles Cathedral. We will meet at Rosslyn Chapel at 9.30am. See IMPORTANT what to bring list below.
This is a 16km walk (nearly 10 miles) and our focus will be on walking together rather than on striding out! This is a sub-section of the St Andrews Way pilgrimage walk.
There is a card that pilgrims can carry and have stamped along the way in case anyone thinks they might like to go on and complete other sections of the route another time! You can download and print the card here
“An easy but ‘off the beaten track’ route starting at the famous Rosslyn Chapel, mainly along surfaced former railway tracks or quiet roads past historic sites, like Craigmillar castle, until a short climb up Arthurs Seat for a magnificent view over Edinburgh; Holyrood Palace, the Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh Castle and over the Firth of Forth to Fife and beyond… then to the top of Leith Walk for the beginning of St Margaret’s Way to St Andrews.”
*We decided to finish at St Giles instead as there is an audio tour you might like to do to mark the end of the walk. It costs £5.50, lasts 45mins and you need a smartphone and head/earphones for it.
